Wird die Hip-hop-Szene gottesfürchtig?

Viele der bibelfesten Rapper wie LL Cool J, der zum Pastor bekehrte Run von Run DMC oder KRS-One sind inzwischen in einem Alter, in dem sie Familie haben und sich die Sinnfragen stellten, schreibt die „Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung“.

P. Diddy alias Puff Daddy, betreibe neu auch ein Gospellabel. Seinen Song "Best Friend" hat er Gott gewidmet. Ein Blick in die amerikanischen Hip-Hop-Charts zeigt weitere Titel mit christlichem Hintergrund: "Lord You Know" heisst einer, ein anderer "On My Way To Church". Selbst Gangsta-Rapper 50 Cent fleht den lieben Gott auf seinem aktuellen Album "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" um einen Platz im Himmel an.

Im Genre Hip-Hop scheint eine neue Besinnung eingesetzt zu haben. Hardcore-Rapper DMX versichert: „Wegen dem Mist, den ich gebaut habe, erreiche ich ganz andere Leute und kann sie zu Jesus bringen." Deshalb schreiben neuerdings gläubige Rapper immer wieder Texte, die davon reden, dass Jesus mit uns ist und erkannt haben, dass sie von Gott total abhängig sind.
